About the awards:

The Chocolate Lily is British Columbia’s Children’s Reader’s Choice book award.

An award celebrating the creative work of children’s authors and illustrators living in British Columbia. Created in 2002 by teacher-librarian Karena Ehrenholz, the Chocolate Lily Book Awards celebrates BC authors and illustrators while striving to increase literacy for grade school children in British Columbia, all of Canada and the whole reading world!

​They are a registered non-profit reader’s choice award. Their name was inspired by the Chocolate Lily, a flowering plant found growing in British Columbia – but nowhere else in Canada. It’s a rare treat to see this flower blooming in coastal woodland areas in early spring.
